Our Collaborations
Xention has established two collaborations with pharmaceutical companies. The first of these was established in March 2009 with Ono Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd. Under the terms of this agreement, Xention will apply its proprietary ion channel drug discovery platform to the identification, design and synthesis of small molecules against ion channels selected by Ono – ion channels of key pathophysiological importance against which selective ligands have not previously been developed. Ono will assume responsibility for subsequent pre-clinical, clinical development and worldwide commercialization of potential new pharmaceutical products arising from the collaboration.
Our second collaboration is with Grünenthal GmbH. Under this agreement, Xention and Grϋnenthal are combining their respective expertise in ion channel drug discovery and pain therapy to collaborate in the identification of new drugs to treat chronic pain. Xention will apply its ion channel drug discovery capabilities to the design, synthesis and in vitro assessment of small molecules which target an ion channel that has been validated as having a critical role in the pathophysiology of pain. Grünenthal will assume responsibility for in vivo efficacy assessments, pre-clinical and clinical development, and worldwide commercialization of pharmaceutical products arising from the collaboration.
